Break Away From Cancer

Breakaway from Cancer is located on the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship website, and was founded in 2005,with support from Amgen Pharmaceuticals. This program, "is a national iniatitive to increase awareness of important resources available to people affected by cancer-from prevention through survivorship."  The progam is "dedicated to empowering patients with education, resources, and hope."

This site offers survivors a broad range of support services and complements programs offered to cancer professionals to support cancer suvivors.

Cancer.Net

Cancer.Net is an educational service provided by the American Society of Clinical Oncology.  Cancer.Net provides patient education regarding breast cancer and dozens of additional types of cancer.  The website's information is able to be downloaded and printed for ease of use.  In addition, this website offers Survivorship programs and other resources.  The link provided here goes directly to the survivorship information webpage.

Imerman's Angels

Imerman's Angels provides a service to create 1-on-1 support for cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers.  This organization matches an individual seeking support to a specially trained individual with the same diagnosis or circumstance.  Learn more from this link. 

Sharsheret

For some women, breast cancer is explained by a hereditary (genetic) risk.  Sharsheret is an organization dedicated to Jewish women with breast and ovarian cancer. This organization provides resources, educational programming, and support groups for those affected by this hereditary syndrome.  Professional educational resources are also available from this organization's website.

The American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society is the leading patient centered cancer organization in the United States.  The American Cancer Society offers many educational tools for survivorship, education, and support resources.  This organization takes a leading role in informing physicians of trends and standards of cancer care.

Young Survival Coalition

The Young Survival Coalition offers resouces especially for young women with breast cancer.  Their tools include: programs for information and empowerment; tools for managing and navigating one's cancer experience; and survivor stories.  There are also tools for health care professionals on this site.  The Young Survival Coalition offers programs throughout the United States.  Their motto is " Young women facing breast cancer together."

The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS)

The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship provides educational and support tools for cancer survivors.  Founded in 1986, this is one of the first national organizations to draw attention to survivorship issues.  This website offers educational tools for health care professionals involved in cancer care.

MyLifeLine Cancer Foundation

The MyLifeLine.org Cancer Foundation provides cancer patients and their supporting friends and family with free, confidential communication tools for dialogue as a cancer patient goes through treatment.  MyLifeLine.org also offers educational resources to learn about cancer types.  Addition of photos, videos, and music clips are part of the communication tools provided.  Additional educational tools and support resources are available on the website.

Fertile Action

Fertile Action - Helping Women Affected by Cancer Become Mothers provides resources for women to learn of fertility options.  This organization provides educational modules and a Resource Directory.  Resources for fertility following breast cancer treatment is featured on this organization's website.

Journey Forward. org

Journey Forward.org has the motto, "Guiding Survivors as they move ahead."  This organization offers a number of tools for survivorship care plan building, include a template to organize one's cancer treatment record, and informational resources.  The site also offers health professionals with tools for cancer survivorship management. 

Susan G. Komen for the Cure

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation has been dedicated to advocacy, awareness, fundraising, research, and educational resources in the fight against breast cancer.  It has been a leading fundraiser to support breast cancer programs and direct breast cancer research around the country.  The organization's website provides many resources for education and support for those with breast cancer.

Sisters Network

Sisters Network is a national African-American Breast Cancer survivorship organization.  The organization focuses on issues uniques to African-American women and their families affected by breast cancer.  The organization provides many educational resources and programs which can be accessed from the homepage of its website.
